Terms of Service
These Terms govern access to and use of Check Company UK, an independent online service for researching UK-registered companies.
Last updated: 20 September 20261. About Check Company UK
Check Company UK is an independent online service available internationally.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
By accessing or using Check Company UK, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
The current service is provided without requiring a user account and is free to access unless a future feature clearly states otherwise.
3. Independent service
Check Company UK is an independent service. It is not Companies House, is not part of the UK Government and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by Companies House or the UK Government.
Company information is obtained from selected public Companies House data resources and presented in a simplified format.
4. Information provided by the service
The service may present company name, company number, company status, company type, incorporation information, SIC information, selected filing information, previous company names, charge information and selected insolvency information where available from the source.
The current service is designed around company-level information and does not provide person-name search or natural-person profile services.
5. Accuracy and source limitations
Check Company UK does not create or control the official Companies House register. Information can be incomplete, delayed, changed, corrected or removed by the source.
We do not guarantee that every item returned by Companies House is accurate, current or complete, and we do not independently verify every filing or company statement.
If an official record appears to be incorrect, the underlying correction may need to be made through Companies House.
6. No professional advice or guarantee
The service is for general informational and research purposes only. It is not legal, financial, accounting, investment, credit or professional due-diligence advice.
An active company status, absence of insolvency information or any automated company-level summary does not prove that a company is legitimate, solvent, trustworthy or suitable for a transaction.
You remain responsible for your own checks and decisions.
7. Automated summaries and risk indicators
The service may organise, summarise or highlight company-level public data automatically to make the record easier to review.
Any automated summary or risk indicator is informational only, relates to the company record rather than a natural person, and must not be treated as a formal credit rating, legal finding or guarantee of future performance.
8. Acceptable use
You may use the service for lawful research and information purposes. You must not:
- use the service for unlawful, fraudulent, abusive or deceptive activity;
- attempt to bypass security controls, rate limits or access restrictions;
- send excessive automated requests that could disrupt the website or upstream data services;
- use the service to harass, threaten, discriminate against or unlawfully target any person;
- misrepresent Check Company UK as an official Companies House or UK Government service;
- copy or reproduce proprietary elements of this website in a way that infringes applicable intellectual-property rights.
9. Public-sector information and intellectual property
Public-sector information sourced from Companies House is used subject to the applicable terms governing that information, including the Open Government Licence where it applies.
The Check Company UK name, website design, original explanatory text, software, layout and other original site elements are protected by applicable intellectual-property law unless stated otherwise.
Nothing in these Terms claims ownership over information that belongs to Companies House, the Crown or another third party.
10. Third-party services and links
The website depends on third-party infrastructure and data services, including Companies House. External websites and services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices.
We are not responsible for the availability, security, accuracy or content of third-party services that we do not control.
11. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend, restrict or discontinue any part of the service where reasonably necessary, including for maintenance, security, legal, technical or data-source reasons.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free availability.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Check Company UK is not liable for losses arising solely from reliance on public-register information, automated summaries, temporary service unavailability or third-party data errors.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation would be unlawful, including liability that cannot legally be excluded under mandatory law.
13. Privacy
Personal information associated with use of the website is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
14. Governing law
These Terms are subject to applicable law, including any mandatory rights or rules that apply regardless of contractual wording.
Nothing in these Terms removes mandatory rights that cannot lawfully be waived or restricted.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the service, legal requirements, data sources or operating model change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated revision date.
